Great birdwatching tour - Herbert is an amazing and very knowlegeable guide. We did a bird watching tour with him that lasted all morning, and he showed us many birds: two types of toucans,... read more clorophonias, euphonias, woodpeckers, lots of different hummingbirds... We also saw a sleeping snake. It was an amazing experience, and Herbert told us so much about the wildlife we saw.
Strongly recommended!

Roy Porras, best guide ever! - When visiting Monteverde we hoped to see the quetzal, as we are hobby birdwatchers, but we didnโt expect too much. Thanks to our guide Roy it didnโt take us more... read more than five minutes to spot the first quetzal - a female- and soon later we saw the beautiful male bird flying up to her and then resting close by. It was absolutely mesmerizing! Lateron Roy showed us other rare and interesting birds (including an owl) and told us a lot about the flora and fauna of Monteverde. The park itself is really beautiful and thanks to Roy it was one of the best tours we have ever made. Highly recommended!

Quetzales (and other birds) for days! - We visited Monteverde and decided to take a guided tour of Curi-Cancha and then visit the Monteverde reserve on our own. Good decision! Herbert was an exceptional guide with an... read more broad and deep knowledge of birds, mammals, plants and even the history and future of the area. I attempted Spanish but his English was too good to make my efforts worthwhile. We learned a ton and spotted multiple birds including bell birds, toucans, and several quetzales (male and female). Amazing. There is a separate area for hummingbirds where Herbert gave us good tips for filming them in flight. He was also really skilled at capturing great photos through our iPhone cameras via the scope that he brought along. After the approx 2.5 hours of walking through the beautiful park like reserve, we stopped with Herbert at the local crafts co-op, coffee house and dairy where we had ice cream and bought fresh cheeses. This was unplanned but Herbert graciously waited while we shopped a bit and enjoyed coffee tasting. High recommend this adventure.
